Partial Shutter Opening

The partial opening of shutters enables us to leave the opening shutters slightly ajar. When we say slightly, we mean that we do not open the sashes all the way to the stops. Nor do we open them to any intermediate point. When aluminum frames feature partial opening, they essentially include the special bar necessary for this use.

This bar allows us to secure the aluminum shutters while they are partially open, creating a gap of 15-20 cm between them. See photos of aluminum shutters.

The benefits of partial shutter opening and shutter security locks

The partial opening is very important for having absolute control over the light flow (brightness) inside our spaces. It allows us to illuminate and ventilate rooms without having unlocked shutters. It is ideal for rooms of limited use that we want to ventilate but are also concerned about security.

Fenestral installs a control (or remote control) on all opening shutters, which allows for partial opening of aluminum shutters for increased ventilation and light. Partial shutter opening is not provided by all frame manufacturers and all frame installation teams. If you want to see more options for locking aluminum frames (multiple locks, hidden locks, hidden hinges, etc.), read the article on frame locking mechanisms.
