Security nowadays is a topic that concerns us/you more and more every day. How secure a frame is depends on three things: aluminum profiles, glazing, and mechanisms. The security of frames (aluminum frame security) is measured by resistance classes (WK – Wiederstand Klasse).
WK 1 Category: The first category refers to the effort required to open a window with body force, e.g., by kicking, lifting, pulling, or falling onto it. Only frames with basic glazing are classified in this category, and the burglar does not need to be particularly skilled.
WK 2 Category: In this category, the opportunistic perpetrator uses simple tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wedges, etc., to force open the locked frame.
WK 3 Category: In this category, the opportunistic perpetrator uses additional small tools, such as a second screwdriver, crowbar, or pry bar, to open the door or window.
WK 4 Category: In this category, the experienced perpetrator uses tools such as a sledgehammer, saw, hammer, chisel, or cordless drill.
WK 5 Category: The experienced perpetrator in this category additionally uses power tools, such as a drill, saw or jigsaw, and an angle grinder with a maximum disc diameter of 125 millimeters.
WK 6 Category: (the highest category) the experienced perpetrator uses an angle grinder with a maximum disc diameter of 250 millimeters or other additional reinforced power tools.

Bulletproof Glass Categories

| Category | Caliber | Weapon | Projectile Velocity | Number of Shots |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BR1 | 0.22 Long Rifle | Long Rifle | 360 m/s | 3 |
| BR2 | 9mm Parabellum | Luger, Uzi | 400 m/s | 3 |
| BR3 | 0.357 Magnum | Magnum | 430 m/s | 3 |
| BR4 | 0.44 Magnum | Magnum | 440 m/s | 3 |
| BR5 | 5.56 × 45mm | M16 | 950 m/s | 3 |
| BR6 | 7.62 × 51mm soft core | FAL / Winchester | 820 m/s | 3 |
| BR7 | 7.62 × 51mm hard core | FAL | 830 m/s | 3 |
| SG1 | 12 / 70 | Riotgun | 420 m/s | 1 |
| SG2 | 12 / 70 | Riotgun | 420 m/s | 3 |
Category (BR / SG)
Indicates the level of protection. The higher the number (e.g., BR7), the higher the resistance.
BR = protection against rifles/pistols
SG = protection against shotgun
Caliber
The type and size of the cartridge.
Weapon
Indicative weapon type used in the test.
Projectile speed (m/s)
The speed at which the projectile impacts the material during testing. The higher the speed, the stronger the impact.
Number of shots
How many consecutive shots the material must withstand without being penetrated.
Level Interpretation
BR1 – BR4
Protection against pistols of various calibers (low to medium power).BR5 – BR7
Protection against military-type rifles.
BR7 is among the highest levels and includes armor-piercing projectiles.SG1 – SG2
Refer to shotgun 12/70.
The difference is in the number of shots (1 or 3).
Practical Applications for Security Glazing
High-security residences: usually BR2–BR4
Banks, public buildings, military installations: BR5–BR7
Aluminum shutters with folding grilles

For incomparable security, a combination of opening or sliding aluminum shutters with folding grilles can be made.
Security aluminum frames

The company Fenestral can manufacture aluminum frames with reinforced profiles. Multiple locking can be installed on aluminum shutters. Also available are reinforced roller blinds, roller guides with reinforced aluminum blades on the outer side, which provide additional reinforcement for anti-burglary protection, new reinforced security pins that lock the roller at the bottom, as well as shafts that prevent reverse rotation during forced entry.
Security aluminum frame mechanisms
In addition to the standard perimeter locking mechanisms that secure the frame at up to 18 points, Fenestral can also install higher security mechanisms.
