Volkswagen – VW Type Sliding Tilt-and-Turn Frames
Volkswagen – VW Type Sliding Tilt-and-Turn frames are the best sliding frames in aluminum regarding frame technical characteristics (sound insulation, thermal insulation, watertightness, etc.), which are equivalent to casement frames. The reason Volkswagen – VW Type Sliding Tilt-and-Turn frames have technical characteristics and performance similar to casement frames is mainly the possibility of installing perimeter mechanisms and the use of elastic gaskets (gaskets instead of brushes).
The opening method for sliding tilt-and-turn frames (VW type) was conceived from the rear doors of VW – Volkswagen vans. Essentially, it is a two-leaf parallel aluminum frame, which has one sliding and tilt-and-turn glass (glass sash with glazing) and one fixed (there is always one fixed sash). They are manufactured with aluminum profiles intended for casement aluminum frames.
The handle of aluminum sliding tilt-and-turn frames has three positions. One in which the sliding sash – glass is completely closed. One in which the sliding sash – glass tilts. And one in which the sliding sash – glass opens and slides over and parallel to the 2nd fixed glass.
Sliding tilt-and-turn frames with a perimeter mechanism can be manufactured either as energy-efficient thermal break frames or as simple frames. They can be manufactured with the Europa EOS – 60 and EOS – 8500 aluminum frame series.
Advantages
- The sliding sash – glass has a tilt function (tilt-and-turn), like casement frames. This allows us to ventilate our space without the sash obstructing, and with sufficient security (we can leave the sash open and be absent from our home).
- Sliding tilt-and-turn windows and balcony doors (aluminum or PVC) are the only sliding frames in which a perimeter locking mechanism is installed, similar to casement frames. The perimeter locking mechanism offers high indices of thermal insulation, sound insulation, watertightness, airtightness, etc.
- In aluminum sliding tilt-and-turn frames (VW – Volkswagen type), elastic gaskets are used for their sealing (not brushes), similar to lift-and-slide frames, which offer high indices of sound insulation, thermal insulation, etc.
- In sliding tilt-and-turn frames (aluminum or PVC), large cross-sections of glazing – glass (large glass thicknesses and large gaps) can be installed, thereby increasing the thermal and sound insulation coefficients of windows and balcony doors (aluminum or PVC).
- With sliding tilt-and-turn frames, large-sized frames can be constructed.
