Interior Shutters – Paneled

Interior shutters are special constructions that are installed on the interior side of the house and inside our glazing (window sashes), which, it should be noted, also open inwards (glazing and shutters open inwards).

They lend a traditional style to our construction and are mainly found in Mani, in traditional and coastal settlements (shutters for islands – island-style) as well as in many countries abroad (e.g., Italy). They are usually made of aluminum panels (Paneled Shutters) and can feature decorative panels.

They are made from a special aluminum profile similar to that of glazing and can be painted in unlimited colors (see all shutter colors). In many cases, the use of super-durable paints with high resistance is preferred, especially for installation in coastal areas or high-altitude regions.

All types of aluminum louvers (see aluminum louvers) can be installed in interior shutter constructions, as well as aluminum panels with designs, lending a more traditional style to our construction.

Paneled aluminum shutters (shutters with panels)

Paneled aluminum shutters (shutters with panels) are constructions that do not provide ventilation but can function as a second entrance, as they accommodate handles with locks. The panels can be smooth or decorative panels, which is quite time-consuming. In most cases, these are traditional frame constructions.

Advantages of Inward-Opening Shutters

Interior shutters have several advantages compared to classic shutters installed outside our glazing. Let’s look at the advantages:

  • Greater security since the hinges are not visible from the outside.
  • Ease of use because you do not need to open your glazing to use them (they are operated from inside the house).
  • High durability because their hinges (pintles) are not damaged or broken by strong winds, and a long lifespan since the construction is not exposed to weather conditions.
  • Aesthetic appeal to the building’s facade as no external wind supports are required.
  • They lend a traditional appearance to your home (see traditional frames).
  • Possibility of construction with louvers and panels in unlimited colors.
  • Possibility of using a partial opening mechanism.
  • Security with the use of an internal lock with a key.
  • Construction from aluminum profiles with Sea Side Class protection
  • High durability compared to equivalent PVC – plastic shutters and louvers.
  • Unlimited colors and the possibility of painting with super-durable paints (Super Durable) at particularly advantageous prices (Europa Super Durable paints Ammos collection offer).

Disadvantages of Inward-Opening Shutters

In addition to advantages, interior shutters also have some significant disadvantages:

  • High cost because these are special constructions requiring specialized processing and adjustments.
  • In many constructions of inward-opening shutters, their glazing (window sashes) must be adjusted and narrowed – reduced because both constructions (glazing and shutters) open towards the interior of your home.
  • Difficulty in supporting the shutter leaves when open, using pins, rings, or hooks.
