Tilt-and-turn frames

The tilt-and-turn mechanism for frames (tilt) is the system that allows the opening sash to open from the top. This way, the space is ventilated without the frame sash obstructing or taking up space. Several types of tilt-and-turn mechanisms also offer security, as it is difficult for someone to open the sash when it is in the tilt position. Most companies offer it as standard equipment. The minimum frame width for a tilt-and-turn mechanism to be installed is 45 centimeters.

In double-sash opening frames, tilt-and-turn mechanisms can be installed on both sashes. In these cases, and because the sashes take a slight tilt when tilted, there is a possibility that the two sashes may ‘catch’ each other when simultaneously in the tilt position.

The prices of tilt-and-turn mechanisms vary depending on the hardware company. An average price for a tilt-and-turn mechanism is €30-50. Frames that are not tilt-and-turn usually do not have perimeter locking mechanisms.
