Electric roller shutter motors with obstacle detection mechanism (controlled torque)

Electric roller shutter motors with an obstacle detection mechanism – controlled torque have the ability to stop automatically if they “sense” an obstacle during ascent or descent. This feature protects them from damage (burning out).

Electric roller shutter motors with an obstacle detection mechanism (controlled torque) are more expensive than simple electric roller shutter motors. Their use is recommended if our roller shutter slats have security pins for protection against burglars. Their use is necessary because if we forget the roller shutter security pins locked (secured) and operate the roller shutter, it will be damaged by the resistance.

It is the ultimate type of motor for protecting aluminum roller shutters.

Fenestral uses electric roller shutter motors with an obstacle detection mechanism to prevent damage from incorrect use. (They stop automatically when an obstacle is encountered in both directions without the motors being overloaded or burning out). Roller shutters with a controlled torque – obstacle detection mechanism sense when they encounter an obstacle and cut off the power supply to the motor to prevent damage (roller shutter motor with protection).

  • Obstacle detection: The electric roller shutter motor automatically stops operation if it encounters resistance – an obstacle during ascent or descent (e.g., chairs – buckets – ice, roller shutter security pins *essential) to prevent damage or injury. Therefore, obstacle detection is the result of the mechanism.
  • Controlled torque: The controlled torque motor continuously monitors the force (torque) it exerts. If the torque suddenly increases (obstacle during ascent) or unexpectedly decreases (obstacle during descent), the electronic system detects that something is wrong and interrupts the movement. The way “detection” occurs is through special bands on the roller shutter axles. In this way, the roller shutter “understands” the obstacle. Therefore, controlled torque is the way the mechanism operates.

Motors with obstacle detection are essential if the roller shutters have security bolts.
