Smart Glass – Electric

Fenestral can manufacture and install smart glass – electric (Smart glass) in its frames. There are six (6) types of smart glass – electric (smart glass) available on the market and can be used as Glazing – glass:

• Switchable / Privacy Glass or Electric Frosted Glass

Electric frosted glass changes from clear to frosted – opaque with the help of electricity.

• Electrochromic Glass or Electric Tinted Glass

Electric tinted glass changes from clear to dark (colored) for energy saving.

• SPD (Suspended Particle Device)

These are applications for car glass, changing from clear to dark glass.

• Thermochromic Glass

These are smart glass types that change shading depending on temperature (without intervention or electricity).

• Photochromic Glass (color-changing glass)

These are smart glass types that change color and darken because they react to light – UV (without intervention or electricity).

• Liquid Crystal Smart Film (electric glass films)

Smart glass films (electric glass films) are adapted to existing structures and change transparency and color

New technologies also offer glazing with

• integrated LEDs that are installed in frames or shop facades and can become televisions or advertising display panels.
• integrated photovoltaic systems that produce energy (building integrated PV – BIPV).
• Anti-condensation glazing technology featuring coatings that prevent the formation of moisture – condensation, especially in areas with large temperature differences.
• Self-cleaning glazing. These are glass types that clean themselves when access is not possible.
