Frame gaskets… playing with words

Aluminum frame gaskets are a structural component in the construction of aluminum frames. In case of replacement of the gaskets with lower quality materials (e.g., bubble gaskets), the behavior of the frame changes completely regarding water tightness, wind pressure, and sound insulation.
Most companies (e.g., Europa) use foam gaskets in all frames, which undergo testing (Rosenheim) to certify them for thermal insulation, sound insulation, sealing, etc. Additionally, foam gaskets can be replaced after they wear out.

A common phenomenon of deception is the use of bubble gaskets (foam bubble gaskets), which are a completely different type of gasket from the foam gaskets used by extrusion companies for frame gaskets. So, by playing with words, many frame manufacturers state in their offers that they use foam gaskets, but in the construction of the frames, they install bubble gaskets, which the trade refers to as foam bubble gaskets.

The bubble gasket is an economical frame gasket, which often cannot be replaced in case of wear. Furthermore, since companies have not tested their frames with bubble gaskets (foam bubble gaskets), no certificate is valid, and essentially, you do not know the performance of what you are buying. Frame gaskets are susceptible to solar radiation, and most design companies (e.g., Europa, Alumil) use them only in aluminum shutters.
Therefore, it is advisable to ask your aluminum frame manufacturer to use all the gaskets provided by the manufacturing company.
